Beyond Gender: redefining the boundaries of sex and gender

This book will cover the area of transgender, bisexuality,
intersexuality, etc, with the central theme being the challenges 
being made to conventional gender concepts, 
and how these challenges redefine 
our understanding of sexuality/gender/identity/existance.

Essays and life stories of up to 5000 
words are welcomed. Submission to: diversity33@hotmail.com

Submissions could include essays/life stories on topics such as:

* Intersexuality, issues around surgical intervention, activism
  (HWA, etc)
* Transexuality, politics of "passing", of acceptance of people 
  in transition, post-transition, etc, eg the campaign for 
  inclusion in UNISON's lesbian and gay campaign. Legal issues. 
  Medicalisation, problems of. 
* Transgender
* Androgyny
* Genderqueer (people living as neither or both gender, etc)
* Virtual gender (internet presentation of different gender to real-life)
* History/cultural differences in concepts of gender  
* Bisexuality and how it relates to this area, eg, attraction 
  regardless of gender versus dual attraction. What political alliances
  have happened between bi's and trans etc people. 
* SM: issues of gender freedom and gender role exploration in SM. 

Final deadline for contributions is 1st June 2003. 


Unlimited Desires II: More International Bisexual Erotica

A follow-up to Unlimited Desires, stories submitted 
should be literate and well-written and structured,
with developed characters, and plausible social context.
If a context is an actual society, existing or historical, then
it should be authentically described.

Avoid cliches such as bisexual characters being exotic 
foreigners! Alternative narrative and other experimental 
structures are welcome, as is humour. 

There should always be erotic/sexual content as a primary
theme, with bisexual characters and/or bisexual behaviour.
